Honors

Laura and I were roommates and fellow music majors at Douglass College and we have been friends ever since, sharing our love of music and travel through the years. Laura is an accomplished singer and music teacher. She has performed all over the world and in January 2020 she graced Stories Love Music with a wonderful performance of songs and stories honoring her ancestors at our first home fundraising concert. Laura’s dad had a long and distinguished career in business, academia and publishing. During retirement, he became involved in genealogical research and president of various societies, spending the last 14 years caring for Laura’s mom, Cora May at home after her stroke. Laura, and her husband Dave, provided much support and caregiving for her dad after her mom passed away sharing their love of genealogy, music and enjoying the mountains of the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia in the last three months of his life.
